Dr. Lucy Loomis

    Dr. Lucy Loomis has worked in Community Health Centers for over 40 years. She was chair of Family Medicine at Denver Health and Denver Community Health Services (DCHS) until 2022, in which role she oversaw clinical services at 6 of the10 DCHS sites, serving over 90.000 patients. She has long been a champion of Health Center based training, helping to start the Denver Health track of the University of Colorado Family Medicine residency (UCHFMR) in 1998. Other roles at Denver Health included leading their Title X Family Planning grant, starting the Denver Health Refugee screening clinic in 2003 and medical staff leadership, including president of the Medical Staff (2016-2018). She has been active with the community health center movement for many years, including board membership of CCHN (Colorado Community Health Network), and with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC)< where she has been a regional representative on their board since 2019. She has given numerous presentations and workshops on practice improvement and management at local and national forums. She also serves on the Colorado Medical Society Physician Wellness, and was recently appointed to the Colorado School of Public Health’s Dean’s advisory committee. Since retiring as chair, she has continued a part time practice at Denver health, as well as teaching and mentoring both residents and faculty. . She has been volunteering as a coach for emerging clinical CHC leaders since 2022. A graduate of Yale University and Case Western Reserve school of Medicine, she did her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut, and completed a MSPH at the University of Colorado.
